Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled field and shop heavy equipment repair and maintenance technician.   Our shop/yard is located in Kansas City, MO.  We offer competitive wages, health insurance, and retirement benefits subject to eligibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs emergency repairs to equipment in the field.
  • Repair and/or replace parts so that equipment is operational when needed; fabricate, modify, and install special equipment as needed.
  • Check equipment to monitor condition so that needed repairs are completed and down time is minimized by making preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain clean shop and organized tools, supplies, and equipment.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical school certification or 3+ years of diesel, hydraulic and electrical experience
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, diagnostics and repair techniques sufficient to perform installation, repair, and maintenance on light, medium, and heavy equipment, tractors and fleet vehicles.
  • Skilled in arc and acetylene welding sufficient to repair damaged equipment and to modify existing equipment per required specifications.
  • Necessary tools to perform essential job functions.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License required.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and near mechanical moving parts. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration. Possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles that may affect respiration and skin.

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs., talking, hearing, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel:

  • Full-time Monday-Friday plus overtime as necessary. Must have reliable transportation and liability insurance to travel to local worksites.

Work Authorization:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
